No More Dreams El objetivo fotografico de Oona Nelson es sublimemente despojado. No More Dreams es una serie de interpretaciones fotograficas del genero clasico de las vanitas. En ocasiones, sus fotografias se combinan con pinturas o marcos quemados, pero siguen siendo interrupciones modernas de las vanitas. El movimiento

de las vanitas comenza. como respuesta a la prosperidad colonial en la Holanda del siglo XVIII. Los artistas de vanitas se dedicaban a comunicar que las cosas de este mundo -los placeres- no son propiedades eternas. Mis bien, la naturaleza de la vida y del mundo es fugaz, finita y temporal. Nelson establece una correlacian directa entre ese periodo de la historia colonial y el estado actual de la economica, la polotica y la ecologia. Nelson afirma:

“Soy cmplice, pero tambien tengo una sensacion de remordimiento y pordida. Es agridulce, la sfiesta parece haber terminado. Hay un patetismo en ello”.

The photographic goal of Oona Nelson is sublimely stripped down. "No More Dreams" is a series of photographic interpretations of the classic genre of vanitas. At times, her photographs are combined with paintings or burnt frames, but they remain modern disruptions of vanitas. The vanitas movement began as a response to colonial prosperity in 17th-century Holland. Vanitas artists were dedicated to conveying that worldly things - pleasures - are not eternal possessions. Rather, the nature of life and the world is fleeting, finite, and temporal. Nelson draws a direct correlation between that colonial period of history and the current state of economics, politics, and ecology. Nelson states:

"I am complicit, but I also have a sense of remorse and loss. It's bittersweet; the party seems to have ended. There is a pathos in it."
